I was surprised at how touched and relatable this movie was. The movie I left was more a beautiful story of a women finding herself rather than what I originally thought the movie would portray- a struggle adjusting to a disability. Stephanie, the protagonist, was living a young life without extreme cares. She had a unreliable boyfriend and a job at the German Sea World. She found herself partying on her own to compensate for her non directionality. A girl lost, but maybe did not know it.
Stephanie suffered the loss of both legs, a body part taken for granted in one living a normal life. However this accident did have a positive outcome, I think Stephanie became even more confident in herself. This was not of course instantaneous, at first she was extremely depressed. She slowly ventured out and started spending time with Alic. Stephanie agreed to get prosthetic limbs. Eventually becoming more comfortable in her new skin, and started enjoying life. Eventually I think she matured when she got RIGHT tattooed above her right amputated leg. Out of this tragic accident I think Stephanie matured into a women with direction in her life. She is seen in the last scene with Sam and Alic
