I would like to start investigating the epidemiology of Glaucoma. This topic would cover the spread and patterns of the disease across the world.Glaucoma is one of the most common diseases that causes blindness. It does so by forming pressure behind the eye, it has no symptoms and can effect almost anyone. African- Americans have a higher risk of developing Glaucoma based on genetics. Glaucoma also has a higher prevalence in less developed areas since treatment is not as easy to come by. Treatment includes surgery to remove the effected area of the eye. This professional perspective relates to disability by the essence of the disease. Decreased vision to blindness is a disability which alters people's way of life. It is important to address those effects on the life style, and to make those with disability have more happy, fulfilling lives doing what they want to do.
