I chose to took at the accessibility of different pathways between two buildings on campus, White Hall and Callaway Memorial Center. I started at White and had to make my to Callaway. From white there are two pathways to get to Callaway. Both are made on level ground, however the surface material is different. One pathway is paved, while the other is made of bricks. The spacing of these bricks should not be an issue or crevices etc, but in the winter ice may more easily remain on this surface in the spaces where there is mortar. The pathway made of bricks is also more direct I would say. If walking along the quad, as I said before the surface material is paved so probability better prepared for frost if salted beforehand. There is one complication if you were a chair- user. In order to access the level surface, a person would have to wheel a little further to get access to a sloping path to avoid stairs, adding to the already longer pathway.
